A living photograph experience

While traveling in New Zealand I became especially aware of the limitations of the landscape photograph in capturing views, reducing a breathtaking moment to an uninspiring rectangle you could find on google images. Seeking to translate that feeling that inspires you to take the photograph into the experience of the image, I made video loops of landscapes, projecting them onto a large two way screen and placed the model behind it, in order to give depth and life to the landscape. The body cast carelessly aside in the image is representative of the disposable nature of landscape images in the internet age, as well as to add scale to the scene. Here are a collection of stills & videos from the landscapes themselves as well as the experience in the gallery.

Shown at None Gallery, Dunedin, NZ.
